Pneumonia is inflammation of the lungs caused by infection (bacterial/viral/fungal) or aspiration (inhaling vomit/food). It causes fluid accumulation in the alveoli, hindering oxygen exchange.

Cough, fever, rapid breathing. Progression to dyspnea (difficulty breathing) and blue gums (cyanosis).
Chest X-rays (lung consolidation). Transtracheal wash for culture.
Antibiotics (based on culture), Nebulization, Coupage (chest physiotherapy), Oxygen therapy.
Treat respiratory infections early. Avoid aspiration (don't force feed vomiting dogs).
Good if treated early. Aspiration pneumonia can be fatal.
