Infectious Tracheobronchitis (Kennel Cough) is a highly contagious respiratory complex caused by Bordetella bronchiseptica and/or Parainfluenza virus. It causes a harsh, dry "honking" cough.

Incubation 3-10 days. Coughing lasts 1-3 weeks. Can progress to pneumonia in puppies/immunocompromised dogs.
Clinical signs and history of exposure. Cough typically elicited on tracheal palpation.
Usually self-limiting. Cough suppressants and rest. Antibiotics (Doxycycline) if fever or lethargy suggests bacterial component.
Bordetella vaccination (Oral/Nasal/Injectable) reduces severity.
Excellent. Most recover without treatment.
