Acute vomiting, severe abdominal pain ("prayer position"), dehydration, fever. Systemic inflammation can cause shock.
cPL/fPL (Pancreas specific lipase) SNAP test. Ultrasound.
IV fluids, strong pain medication (opioids), anti-nausea meds. Low-fat diet is critical for recovery and prevention.
Strict low-fat diet. No table scraps.
Good for mild cases. Severe necrotizing pancreatitis is fatal.
